Canterburies

In 1803 the furniture designer, Thomas Sheraton coined the name “Canterbury” to describe popular music stands because the first person to order one from him was the Archbishop of Canterbury. Canterburies were originally intended to hold books or sheet music, but in modern life they make useful magazine racks.
